Pre-Intermediate English – Part 1

This is part 1 of the third level English language course. It encompasses an approach that focuses on communication by emphasizing fluency and accuracy through speaking and writing. Lexis is introduced and recycled within clear natural contexts. Writing is practiced through a range of real-life communication and e-texts.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Start and end conversations;

  • Write a personal email;

  • Describe one’s holiday;

  • Describe difficult journeys;

  • Ask about train schedules, tourist offices, sites and airports;

  • Write a travel blog;

  • Discuss ways of spending and saving money;

  • Converse with shop assistants;

  • Write an email to update others;

  • Describe different celebrations;

  • Plan a one-day outing;

  • Make social arrangements;

  • Write and reply to an invitation;

  • Talk about what people do at work;

  • Talk about future careers;

  • Make offers and suggestions;

  • Write a job application;

  • Give advice on common problems;

  • Relay exciting experiences;

  • Ask for and give advice;

  • Write a message giving advice.
